    Taa-Seeen-Meeem

    Translation

    Ta, Seen, Meem.
    Verse 2
    تِلۡكَ ءَایَـٰتُ ٱلۡكِتَـٰبِ ٱلۡمُبِینِ

    Pronunciation

    Tilka Aayaatul Kitaabil Mubeen

    Translation

    These are the verses of the clear Book.
    Verse 3
    لَعَلَّكَ بَـٰخِعࣱ نَّفۡسَكَ أَلَّا یَكُونُوا۟ مُؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    La'allaka baakhi'un nafsaka allaa yakoonoo mu'mineen

    Translation

    Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.
    Verse 4
    إِن نَّشَأۡ نُنَزِّلۡ عَلَیۡهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ ءَایَةࣰ فَظَلَّتۡ أَعۡنَـٰقُهُمۡ لَهَا خَـٰضِعِینَ

    Pronunciation

    In nashaa nunazzil 'alaihim minas samaaa'i Aayatan fazallat a'naaquhum lahaa khaadi'een

    Translation

    If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled.
    Verse 5
    وَمَا یَأۡتِیهِم مِّن ذِكۡرࣲ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ مُحۡدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنۡهُ مُعۡرِضِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maa yaateehim min zikrim minar Rahmaani muhdasin illaa kaanoo 'anhu mu'rideen

    Translation

    And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it.
    Verse 6
    فَقَدۡ كَذَّبُوا۟ فَسَیَأۡتِیهِمۡ أَنۢبَـٰۤؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ یَسۡتَهۡزِءُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Faqad kazzaboo fasa yaateehim ambaaa'u maa kaanoo bihee yastahzi'oon

    Translation

    For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule.
    Verse 7
    أَوَلَمۡ یَرَوۡا۟ إِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَمۡ أَنۢبَتۡنَا فِیهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجࣲ كَرِیمٍ

    Pronunciation

    Awa lam yaraw ilal ardi kam ambatnaa feehaa min kulli zawjin kareem

    Translation

    Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced in it from every noble kind?
    Verse 8
    إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ لَـَٔایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Inn fee zaalika la Aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

    Translation

    Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
    Verse 9
    وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ

    Pronunciation

    Wa inna Rabbaka la Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

    Translation

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
    Verse 10
    وَإِذۡ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنِ ٱئۡتِ ٱلۡقَوۡمَ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa iz naadaa Rabbuka Moosaaa ani'-til qawmaz zaalimeen

    Translation

    And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -
    Verse 11
    قَوۡمَ فِرۡعَوۡنَۚ أَلَا یَتَّقُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Qawma Fir'awn; alaa yattaqoon

    Translation

    The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?"
    Verse 12
    قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ أَن یُكَذِّبُونِ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala Rabbi inneee akhaafu ai yukazziboon

    Translation

    He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
    Verse 13
    وَیَضِیقُ صَدۡرِی وَلَا یَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِی فَأَرۡسِلۡ إِلَىٰ هَـٰرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa yadeequ sadree wa laa yantaliqu lisaanee fa arsil ilaa Haaroon

    Translation

    And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.
    Verse 14
    وَلَهُمۡ عَلَیَّ ذَنۢبࣱ فَأَخَافُ أَن یَقۡتُلُونِ

    Pronunciation

    Wa lahum 'alaiya zambun fa akhaafu ai yaqtuloon

    Translation

    And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."
    Verse 15
    قَالَ كَلَّاۖ فَٱذۡهَبَا بِـَٔایَـٰتِنَاۤۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسۡتَمِعُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala kallaa fazhabaa bi Aayaatinaaa innaa ma'akum mustami'oon

    Translation

    [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.
    Verse 16
    فَأۡتِیَا فِرۡعَوۡنَ فَقُولَاۤ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Faatiyaa Fir'awna faqoolaaa innaa Rasoolu Rabbil 'aalameen

    Translation

    Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds,
    Verse 17
    أَنۡ أَرۡسِلۡ مَعَنَا بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰ⁠ۤءِیلَ

    Pronunciation

    An arsil ma'anaa Baneee Israaa'eel

    Translation

    [Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"
    Verse 18
    قَالَ أَلَمۡ نُرَبِّكَ فِینَا وَلِیدࣰا وَلَبِثۡتَ فِینَا مِنۡ عُمُرِكَ سِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala alam nurabbika feenaa waleedanw wa labista feenaa min 'umurika sineen

    Translation

    [Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?
    Verse 19
    وَفَعَلۡتَ فَعۡلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِی فَعَلۡتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡكَـٰفِرِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa fa'alta fa'latakal latee fa'alta wa anta minal kaafireen

    Translation

    And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful."
    Verse 20
    قَالَ فَعَلۡتُهَاۤ إِذࣰا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّاۤلِّینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala fa'altuhaaa izanw wa ana minad daaaleen

    Translation

    [Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray.
    Verse 21
    فَفَرَرۡتُ مِنكُمۡ لَمَّا خِفۡتُكُمۡ فَوَهَبَ لِی رَبِّی حُكۡمࣰا وَجَعَلَنِی مِنَ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Fafarartu minkum lam maa khiftukum fawahaba lee Rabbee hukmanw wa ja'alanee minal mursaleen

    Translation

    So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.
    Verse 22
    وَتِلۡكَ نِعۡمَةࣱ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَیَّ أَنۡ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰ⁠ۤءِیلَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa tilka ni'matun tamun nuhaa 'alaiya an 'abbatta Baneee Israaa'eel

    Translation

    And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"
    Verse 23
    قَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala Fir'awnu wa maa Rabbul 'aalameen

    Translation

    Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"
    Verse 24
    قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰ⁠تِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَاۤۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala Rabbus samaawaati wal ardi wa maa bainahumaa in kuntum mooqineen

    Translation

    [Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced."
    Verse 25
    قَالَ لِمَنۡ حَوۡلَهُۥۤ أَلَا تَسۡتَمِعُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala liman hawlahooo alaa tastami'oon

    Translation

    [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?"
    Verse 26
    قَالَ رَبُّكُمۡ وَرَبُّ ءَابَاۤىِٕكُمُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala Rabbukum wa Rabbu aabaaa'ikumul awwaleen

    Translation

    [Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers."
    Verse 27
    قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِیۤ أُرۡسِلَ إِلَیۡكُمۡ لَمَجۡنُونࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala inna Rasoolakumul lazee ursila ilaikum lamajnoon

    Translation

    [Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad."
    Verse 28
    قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقِ وَٱلۡمَغۡرِبِ وَمَا بَیۡنَهُمَاۤۖ إِن كُنتُمۡ تَعۡقِلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala Rabbul mashriqi wal maghribi wa maa baina humaa in kuntum ta'qiloon

    Translation

    [Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason."
    Verse 29
    قَالَ لَىِٕنِ ٱتَّخَذۡتَ إِلَـٰهًا غَیۡرِی لَأَجۡعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمَسۡجُونِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala la'init takhazta ilaahan ghairee la aj'alannaka minal masjooneen

    Translation

    [Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned."
    Verse 30
    قَالَ أَوَلَوۡ جِئۡتُكَ بِشَیۡءࣲ مُّبِینࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala awalw ji'tuka bishai'im mubeen

    Translation

    [Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?"
    Verse 31
    قَالَ فَأۡتِ بِهِۦۤ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala faati biheee in kunta minas saadiqeen

    Translation

    [Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful."
    Verse 32
    فَأَلۡقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِیَ ثُعۡبَانࣱ مُّبِینࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Fa alqaa 'asaahu fa izaaa hiya su'baanum mubeen

    Translation

    So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.
    Verse 33
    وَنَزَعَ یَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِیَ بَیۡضَاۤءُ لِلنَّـٰظِرِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa naza'a yadahoo faizaa hiya baidaaa'u linnaa zireen

    Translation

    And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.
    Verse 34
    قَالَ لِلۡمَلَإِ حَوۡلَهُۥۤ إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَسَـٰحِرٌ عَلِیمࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala lilmala-i hawlahooo inna haazaa lasaahirun 'aleem

    Translation

    [Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician.
    Verse 35
    یُرِیدُ أَن یُخۡرِجَكُم مِّنۡ أَرۡضِكُم بِسِحۡرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأۡمُرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Yureedu ai yukhrijakum min ardikum bisihrihee famaazaa taamuroon

    Translation

    He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?"
    Verse 36
    قَالُوۤا۟ أَرۡجِهۡ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبۡعَثۡ فِی ٱلۡمَدَاۤىِٕنِ حَـٰشِرِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaalooo arjih wa akhaahu wab'as filmadaaa'ini haashireen

    Translation

    They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers
    Verse 37
    یَأۡتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِیمࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Yaatooka bikulli sah haarin 'aleem

    Translation

    Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician."
    Verse 38
    فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِیقَـٰتِ یَوۡمࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Fa jumi'as saharatu limeeqaati Yawmim ma'loom

    Translation

    So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day.
    Verse 39
    وَقِیلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلۡ أَنتُم مُّجۡتَمِعُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa qeela linnaasi hal antum mujtami'oon

    Translation

    And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate
    Verse 40
    لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبِینَ

    Pronunciation

    La'allanaa nattabi'us saharata in kaanoo humul ghaalibeen

    Translation

    That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?"
    Verse 41
    فَلَمَّا جَاۤءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا۟ لِفِرۡعَوۡنَ أَىِٕنَّ لَنَا لَأَجۡرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحۡنُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Falammaa jaaa'as saharatu qaaloo li Fir'awna a'inna lanaa la ajjran in kunnaa nahnul ghaalibeen

    Translation

    And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?"
    Verse 42
    قَالَ نَعَمۡ وَإِنَّكُمۡ إِذࣰا لَّمِنَ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala na'am wa innakum izal laminal muqarrabeen

    Translation

    He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]."
    Verse 43
    قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰۤ أَلۡقُوا۟ مَاۤ أَنتُم مُّلۡقُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala lahum Moosaaa alqoo maaa antum mulqoon

    Translation

    Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw."
    Verse 44
    فَأَلۡقَوۡا۟ حِبَالَهُمۡ وَعِصِیَّهُمۡ وَقَالُوا۟ بِعِزَّةِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّا لَنَحۡنُ ٱلۡغَـٰلِبُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Fa alqaw hibaalahum wa 'isiyyahum wa qaaloo bi'izzati Fir'awna innaa lanahnul ghaaliboon

    Translation

    So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant."
    Verse 45
    فَأَلۡقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِیَ تَلۡقَفُ مَا یَأۡفِكُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Fa alqaa Moosaa 'asaahu fa izaa hiya talqafu maa yaafikoon

    Translation

    Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.
    Verse 46
    فَأُلۡقِیَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَـٰجِدِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Fa ulqiyas saharatu saajideen

    Translation

    So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah].
    Verse 47
    قَالُوۤا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaalooo aamannaa bi Rabbil 'aalameen

    Translation

    They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,
    Verse 48
    رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَـٰرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Rabbi Moosaa wa Haaroon

    Translation

    The Lord of Moses and Aaron."
    Verse 49
    قَالَ ءَامَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ قَبۡلَ أَنۡ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمۡۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِیرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِی عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحۡرَ فَلَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَیۡدِیَكُمۡ وَأَرۡجُلَكُم مِّنۡ خِلَـٰفࣲ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمۡ أَجۡمَعِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala aamantum lahoo qabla an aazana lakum innahoo lakabeerukumul lazee 'alla makumus sihra falasawfa ta'lamoon; la uqatti'anna aidiyakum wa arjulakum min khilaafinw wa la usallibanna kum ajma'een

    Translation

    [Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."
    Verse 50
    قَالُوا۟ لَا ضَیۡرَۖ إِنَّاۤ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaaloo la daira innaaa ilaa Rabbinaa munqalliboon

    Translation

    They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.
    Verse 51
    إِنَّا نَطۡمَعُ أَن یَغۡفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَـٰیَـٰنَاۤ أَن كُنَّاۤ أَوَّلَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Innaa natma'u ai yaghfira lanaa Rabbunna khataa yaanaaa an kunnaaa awwalal mu'mineen

    Translation

    Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers."
    Verse 52
    ۞ وَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنۡ أَسۡرِ بِعِبَادِیۤ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa awhainaaa ilaa Moosaaa an asri bi'ibaadeee innakum muttaba'oon

    Translation

    And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued."
    Verse 53
    فَأَرۡسَلَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ فِی ٱلۡمَدَاۤىِٕنِ حَـٰشِرِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Fa arsala Fir'awnu filmadaaa'ini haashireen

    Translation

    Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers
    Verse 54
    إِنَّ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ لَشِرۡذِمَةࣱ قَلِیلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Inna haaa'ulaaa'i lashir zimatun qaleeloon

    Translation

    [And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band,
    Verse 55
    وَإِنَّهُمۡ لَنَا لَغَاۤىِٕظُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa innahum lanaa laghaaa'izoon

    Translation

    And indeed, they are enraging us,
    Verse 56
    وَإِنَّا لَجَمِیعٌ حَـٰذِرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa innaa lajamee'un haaziroon

    Translation

    And indeed, we are a cautious society... "
    Verse 57
    فَأَخۡرَجۡنَـٰهُم مِّن جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Fa akhrajnaahum min Jannaatinw wa 'uyoon

    Translation

    So We removed them from gardens and springs
    Verse 58
    وَكُنُوزࣲ وَمَقَامࣲ كَرِیمࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Wa kunoozinw wa ma qaamin kareem

    Translation

    And treasures and honorable station -
    Verse 59
    كَذَ ٰ⁠لِكَۖ وَأَوۡرَثۡنَـٰهَا بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰ⁠ۤءِیلَ

    Pronunciation

    Kazaalika wa awrasnaahaa Baneee Israaa'eel

    Translation

    Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.
    Verse 60
    فَأَتۡبَعُوهُم مُّشۡرِقِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Fa atba'oohum mushriqeen

    Translation

    So they pursued them at sunrise.
    Verse 61
    فَلَمَّا تَرَ ٰ⁠ۤءَا ٱلۡجَمۡعَانِ قَالَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ مُوسَىٰۤ إِنَّا لَمُدۡرَكُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Falammaa taraaa'al jam'aani qaala as haabu Moosaaa innaa lamudrakoon

    Translation

    And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"
    Verse 62
    قَالَ كَلَّاۤۖ إِنَّ مَعِیَ رَبِّی سَیَهۡدِینِ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala kallaaa inna ma'iya Rabbee sa yahdeen

    Translation

    [Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."
    Verse 63
    فَأَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰۤ أَنِ ٱضۡرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرۡقࣲ كَٱلطَّوۡدِ ٱلۡعَظِیمِ

    Pronunciation

    Fa awhainaaa ilaa Moosaaa anidrib bi'asaakal bahra fanfalaqa fakaana kullu firqin kattawdil 'azeem

    Translation

    Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.
    Verse 64
    وَأَزۡلَفۡنَا ثَمَّ ٱلۡـَٔاخَرِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa azlafnaa sammal aakhareen

    Translation

    And We advanced thereto the pursuers.
    Verse 65
    وَأَنجَیۡنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥۤ أَجۡمَعِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa anjainaa Moosaa wa mam ma'ahooo ajma'een

    Translation

    And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.
    Verse 66
    ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا ٱلۡـَٔاخَرِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Summa aghraqnal aakhareen

    Translation

    Then We drowned the others.
    Verse 67
    إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ لَـَٔایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Inna fee zaalika la Aayaah; wa maa kaana aksaru hu mu'mineen

    Translation

    Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
    Verse 68
    وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ

    Pronunciation

    Wa inna Rabbaka la Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

    Translation

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
    Verse 69
    وَٱتۡلُ عَلَیۡهِمۡ نَبَأَ إِبۡرَ ٰ⁠هِیمَ

    Pronunciation

    Watlu 'alaihim naba-a Ibraaheem

    Translation

    And recite to them the news of Abraham,
    Verse 70
    إِذۡ قَالَ لِأَبِیهِ وَقَوۡمِهِۦ مَا تَعۡبُدُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Iz qaala li abeehi wa qawmihee maa ta'budoon

    Translation

    When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"
    Verse 71
    قَالُوا۟ نَعۡبُدُ أَصۡنَامࣰا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَـٰكِفِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaaloo na'budu asnaaman fanazallu lahaa 'aakifeen

    Translation

    They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."
    Verse 72
    قَالَ هَلۡ یَسۡمَعُونَكُمۡ إِذۡ تَدۡعُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala hal yasma'oona kum iz tad'oon

    Translation

    He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate?
    Verse 73
    أَوۡ یَنفَعُونَكُمۡ أَوۡ یَضُرُّونَ

    Pronunciation

    Aw yanfa'oonakum aw yadurroon

    Translation

    Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?"
    Verse 74
    قَالُوا۟ بَلۡ وَجَدۡنَاۤ ءَابَاۤءَنَا كَذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ یَفۡعَلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaaloo bal wajadnaaa aabaaa 'anaa kazaalika yaf'aloon

    Translation

    They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus."
    Verse 75
    قَالَ أَفَرَءَیۡتُم مَّا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala afara 'aitum maa kuntum ta'budoon

    Translation

    He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping,
    Verse 76
    أَنتُمۡ وَءَابَاۤؤُكُمُ ٱلۡأَقۡدَمُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Antum wa aabaaa'ukumul aqdamoon

    Translation

    You and your ancient forefathers?
    Verse 77
    فَإِنَّهُمۡ عَدُوࣱّ لِّیۤ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Fa innahum 'aduwwwul leee illaa Rabbal 'aalameen

    Translation

    Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,
    Verse 78
    ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَنِی فَهُوَ یَهۡدِینِ

    Pronunciation

    Allazee khalaqanee fa Huwa yahdeen

    Translation

    Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me.
    Verse 79
    وَٱلَّذِی هُوَ یُطۡعِمُنِی وَیَسۡقِینِ

    Pronunciation

    Wallazee Huwa yut'imunee wa yasqeen

    Translation

    And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.
    Verse 80
    وَإِذَا مَرِضۡتُ فَهُوَ یَشۡفِینِ

    Pronunciation

    Wa izaa mardtu fahuwa yashfeen

    Translation

    And when I am ill, it is He who cures me
    Verse 81
    وَٱلَّذِی یُمِیتُنِی ثُمَّ یُحۡیِینِ

    Pronunciation

    Wallazee yumeetunee summa yuhyeen

    Translation

    And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life
    Verse 82
    وَٱلَّذِیۤ أَطۡمَعُ أَن یَغۡفِرَ لِی خَطِیۤـَٔتِی یَوۡمَ ٱلدِّینِ

    Pronunciation

    Wallazeee atma'u ai yaghfira lee khateee' atee Yawmad Deen

    Translation

    And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."
    Verse 83
    رَبِّ هَبۡ لِی حُكۡمࣰا وَأَلۡحِقۡنِی بِٱلصَّـٰلِحِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Rabbi hab lee hukmanw wa alhiqnee bis saaliheen

    Translation

    [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.
    Verse 84
    وَٱجۡعَل لِّی لِسَانَ صِدۡقࣲ فِی ٱلۡـَٔاخِرِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Waj'al lee lisaana sidqin fil aakhireen

    Translation

    And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations.
    Verse 85
    وَٱجۡعَلۡنِی مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِیمِ

    Pronunciation

    Waj'alnee minw warasati Jannnatin Na'eem

    Translation

    And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.
    Verse 86
    وَٱغۡفِرۡ لِأَبِیۤ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّاۤلِّینَ

    Pronunciation

    Waghfir li abeee innahoo kaana mind daalleen

    Translation

    And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.
    Verse 87
    وَلَا تُخۡزِنِی یَوۡمَ یُبۡعَثُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa laa tukhzinee Yawma yub'asoon

    Translation

    And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected -
    Verse 88
    یَوۡمَ لَا یَنفَعُ مَالࣱ وَلَا بَنُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Yawma laa yanfa'u maalunw wa laa banoon

    Translation

    The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children
    Verse 89
    إِلَّا مَنۡ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلۡبࣲ سَلِیمࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Illaa man atal laaha biqalbin saleem

    Translation

    But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart."
    Verse 90
    وَأُزۡلِفَتِ ٱلۡجَنَّةُ لِلۡمُتَّقِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa uzlifatil Jannatu lilmuttaqeen

    Translation

    And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous.
    Verse 91
    وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلۡجَحِیمُ لِلۡغَاوِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa burrizatil Jaheemu lilghaaween

    Translation

    And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators,
    Verse 92
    وَقِیلَ لَهُمۡ أَیۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡبُدُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa qeela lahum aina maa kuntum ta'budoon

    Translation

    And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship
    Verse 93
    مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلۡ یَنصُرُونَكُمۡ أَوۡ یَنتَصِرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Min doonil laahi hal yansuroonakum aw yantasiroon

    Translation

    Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?"
    Verse 94
    فَكُبۡكِبُوا۟ فِیهَا هُمۡ وَٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ

    Pronunciation

    Fakubkiboo feehaa hum walghaawoon

    Translation

    So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators
    Verse 95
    وَجُنُودُ إِبۡلِیسَ أَجۡمَعُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa junoodu Ibleesa ajma'oon

    Translation

    And the soldiers of Iblees, all together.
    Verse 96
    قَالُوا۟ وَهُمۡ فِیهَا یَخۡتَصِمُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaaloo wa hum feehaa yakkhtasimoon

    Translation

    They will say while they dispute in it,
    Verse 97
    تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِی ضَلَـٰلࣲ مُّبِینٍ

    Pronunciation

    Tallaahi in kunnaa lafee dalaalim mubeen

    Translation

    "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error
    Verse 98
    إِذۡ نُسَوِّیكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Iz nusawweekum bi Rabbil 'aalameen

    Translation

    When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds.
    Verse 99
    وَمَاۤ أَضَلَّنَاۤ إِلَّا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maaa adallanaaa illal mujrimoon

    Translation

    And no one misguided us except the criminals.
    Verse 100
    فَمَا لَنَا مِن شَـٰفِعِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Famaa lanaa min shaa fi'een

    Translation

    So now we have no intercessors
    Verse 101
    وَلَا صَدِیقٍ حَمِیمࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Wa laa sadeeqin hameem

    Translation

    And not a devoted friend.
    Verse 102
    فَلَوۡ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةࣰ فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Falaw anna lanaa karratan fanakoona minal mu'mineen

    Translation

    Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... "
    Verse 103
    إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ لَـَٔایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Inna fee zaalika la Aayatanw wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

    Translation

    Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
    Verse 104
    وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ

    Pronunciation

    Wa inna Rabbaka la Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

    Translation

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
    Verse 105
    كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ نُوحٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Kazzabat qawmu Noohinil Mursaleen

    Translation

    The people of Noah denied the messengers
    Verse 106
    إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Iz qaala lahum akhoohum Noohun alaa tattaqoon

    Translation

    When their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
    Verse 107
    إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Innee lakum Rasoolun ameen

    Translation

    Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
    Verse 108
    فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ

    Pronunciation

    Fattaqullaaha wa atee'oon

    Translation

    So fear Allah and obey me.
    Verse 109
    وَمَاۤ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maaa as'alukum 'alaihi min ajrin in ajriya illaa 'alaa Rabbil 'aalameen

    Translation

    And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
    Verse 110
    فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ

    Pronunciation

    Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

    Translation

    So fear Allah and obey me."
    Verse 111
    ۞ قَالُوۤا۟ أَنُؤۡمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلۡأَرۡذَلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaalooo anu'minu laka wattaba 'akal arzaloon

    Translation

    They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]?"
    Verse 112
    قَالَ وَمَا عِلۡمِی بِمَا كَانُوا۟ یَعۡمَلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala wa maa 'ilmee bimaa kaanoo ya'maloon

    Translation

    He said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do?
    Verse 113
    إِنۡ حِسَابُهُمۡ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّیۖ لَوۡ تَشۡعُرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    In hisaabuhum illaa 'alaa Rabbee law tash'uroon

    Translation

    Their account is only upon my Lord, if you [could] perceive.
    Verse 114
    وَمَاۤ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maaa ana bitaaridil mu'mineen

    Translation

    And I am not one to drive away the believers.
    Verse 115
    إِنۡ أَنَا۠ إِلَّا نَذِیرࣱ مُّبِینࣱ

    Pronunciation

    In ana illaa nazeerum mubeen

    Translation

    I am only a clear warner."
    Verse 116
    قَالُوا۟ لَىِٕن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ یَـٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمَرۡجُومِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaaloo la'il lam tantahi yaa Noohu latakoonanna minal marjoomeen

    Translation

    They said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of people who are stoned."
    Verse 117
    قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوۡمِی كَذَّبُونِ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala Rabbi inna qawmee kazzaboon

    Translation

    He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me.
    Verse 118
    فَٱفۡتَحۡ بَیۡنِی وَبَیۡنَهُمۡ فَتۡحࣰا وَنَجِّنِی وَمَن مَّعِیَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Faftab bainee wa bai nahum fat hanw wa najjinee wa mam ma'iya minal mu'mineen

    Translation

    Then judge between me and them with decisive judgement and save me and those with me of the believers."
    Verse 119
    فَأَنجَیۡنَـٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِی ٱلۡفُلۡكِ ٱلۡمَشۡحُونِ

    Pronunciation

    Fa anjainaahu wa mamma'ahoo fil fulkil mashhoon

    Translation

    So We saved him and those with him in the laden ship.
    Verse 120
    ثُمَّ أَغۡرَقۡنَا بَعۡدُ ٱلۡبَاقِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Summa aghraqnaa ba'dul baaqeen

    Translation

    Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones.
    Verse 121
    إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ لَـَٔایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Inna fee zaalika la Aayaah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

    Translation

    Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
    Verse 122
    وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ

    Verse 123
    كَذَّبَتۡ عَادٌ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Kazzabat 'Aadunil mursaleen

    Translation

    'Aad denied the messengers
    Verse 124
    إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Iz qaala lahum akhoohum Hoodun alaa tattaqoon

    Translation

    When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
    Verse 125
    إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Innee lakum Rasoolun ameen

    Translation

    Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
    Verse 126
    فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ

    Pronunciation

    Fattaqullaaha wa atee'oon

    Translation

    So fear Allah and obey me.
    Verse 127
    وَمَاۤ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Verse 128
    أَتَبۡنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِیعٍ ءَایَةࣰ تَعۡبَثُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Atabnoona bikulli ree'in aayatan ta'basoon

    Translation

    Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves,
    Verse 129
    وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمۡ تَخۡلُدُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa tattakhizoona masaani'a la'allakum takhludoon

    Translation

    And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally?
    Verse 130
    وَإِذَا بَطَشۡتُم بَطَشۡتُمۡ جَبَّارِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa izaa batashtum batashtum jabbaareen

    Translation

    And when you strike, you strike as tyrants.
    Verse 131
    فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ

    Pronunciation

    Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

    Translation

    So fear Allah and obey me.
    Verse 132
    وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِیۤ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعۡلَمُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wattaqul lazeee amad dakum bimaa ta'lamoon

    Translation

    And fear He who provided you with that which you know,
    Verse 133
    أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنۡعَـٰمࣲ وَبَنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Amaddakum bi an'aa minw wa baneen

    Translation

    Provided you with grazing livestock and children
    Verse 134
    وَجَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونٍ

    Pronunciation

    Wa jannaatinw wa 'uyoon

    Translation

    And gardens and springs.
    Verse 135
    إِنِّیۤ أَخَافُ عَلَیۡكُمۡ عَذَابَ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Innee akhaafu 'alaikum 'azaaba Yawmin 'azeem

    Translation

    Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."
    Verse 136
    قَالُوا۟ سَوَاۤءٌ عَلَیۡنَاۤ أَوَعَظۡتَ أَمۡ لَمۡ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلۡوَ ٰ⁠عِظِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaaloo sawaaa'un 'alainaaa awa 'azta am lam takum minal waa'izeen

    Translation

    They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.
    Verse 137
    إِنۡ هَـٰذَاۤ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ

    Pronunciation

    In haazaaa illaa khuluqul awwaleen

    Translation

    This is not but the custom of the former peoples,
    Verse 138
    وَمَا نَحۡنُ بِمُعَذَّبِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maa nahnu bimu 'azzabeen

    Translation

    And we are not to be punished."
    Verse 139
    فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهۡلَكۡنَـٰهُمۡۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ لَـَٔایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Fakazzaboohu fa ahlaknaahum; inna fee zaalika la aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

    Translation

    And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
    Verse 140
    وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ

    Pronunciation

    Wa inna Rabbaka la huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

    Translation

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
    Verse 141
    كَذَّبَتۡ ثَمُودُ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Kazzabat Samoodul mursaleen

    Translation

    Thamud denied the messengers
    Verse 142
    إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ صَـٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Iz qaala lahum akhoohum Saalihun alaa tattaqoon

    Translation

    When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
    Verse 143
    إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Innee lakum Rasoolun ameen

    Translation

    Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
    Verse 144
    فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ

    Pronunciation

    Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

    Translation

    So fear Allah and obey me.
    Verse 145

    Verse 146
    أَتُتۡرَكُونَ فِی مَا هَـٰهُنَاۤ ءَامِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Atutrakoona fee maa haahunnaaa aamineen

    Translation

    Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death],
    Verse 147
    فِی جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَعُیُونࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Fee jannaatinw wa 'uyoon

    Translation

    Within gardens and springs
    Verse 148
    وَزُرُوعࣲ وَنَخۡلࣲ طَلۡعُهَا هَضِیمࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Wa zuroo inw wa nakhlin tal 'uhaa hadeem

    Translation

    And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit?
    Verse 149
    وَتَنۡحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡجِبَالِ بُیُوتࣰا فَـٰرِهِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa tanhitoona minal jibaali buyootan faariheen

    Translation

    And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill.
    Verse 150
    فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ

    Pronunciation

    Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

    Translation

    So fear Allah and obey me.
    Verse 151
    وَلَا تُطِیعُوۤا۟ أَمۡرَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa laa tutee'ooo amral musrifeen

    Translation

    And do not obey the order of the transgressors,
    Verse 152
    ٱلَّذِینَ یُفۡسِدُونَ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَلَا یُصۡلِحُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Allazeena yufsidoona fil ardi wa laa yuslihoon

    Translation

    Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend."
    Verse 153
    قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَاۤ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaalooo innamaa anta minal musahhareen

    Translation

    They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.
    Verse 154
    مَاۤ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُنَا فَأۡتِ بِـَٔایَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Maaa anta illaa basharum mislunaa faati bi Aayatin in kunta minas saadiqeen

    Translation

    You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful."
    Verse 155
    قَالَ هَـٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةࣱ لَّهَا شِرۡبࣱ وَلَكُمۡ شِرۡبُ یَوۡمࣲ مَّعۡلُومࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala haazihee naaqatul lahaa shirbunw w alakum shirbu yawmim ma'loom

    Translation

    He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day.
    Verse 156
    وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوۤءࣲ فَیَأۡخُذَكُمۡ عَذَابُ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Wa laa tamassoohaa bisooo'in fa yaakhuzakum 'azaabu Yawmin 'Azeem

    Translation

    And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day."
    Verse 157
    فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصۡبَحُوا۟ نَـٰدِمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Fa'aqaroohaa fa asbahoo naadimeen

    Translation

    But they hamstrung her and so became regretful.
    Verse 158
    فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلۡعَذَابُۚ إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ لَـَٔایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Fa akhazahumul 'azaab; inna fee zaalika la Aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum m'mineen

    Translation

    And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
    Verse 159
    وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ

    Pronunciation

    Wa inna Rabbaka la Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

    Translation

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
    Verse 160
    كَذَّبَتۡ قَوۡمُ لُوطٍ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ

    Pronunciation

    kazzabat qawmu Lootinil mursaleen

    Translation

    The people of Lot denied the messengers
    Verse 161
    إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ أَخُوهُمۡ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Iz qaala lahum akhoohum Lootun alaa tattaqoon

    Translation

    When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
    Verse 162
    إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Innee lakum rasoolun ameen

    Translation

    Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
    Verse 163
    فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ

    Pronunciation

    Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

    Translation

    So fear Allah and obey me.
    Verse 164
    وَمَاۤ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maaa as'alukum 'alaihi min ajrin in ajriya illaa 'alaa Rabbil 'aalameen

    Translation

    And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
    Verse 165
    أَتَأۡتُونَ ٱلذُّكۡرَانَ مِنَ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Ataatoonaz zukraana minal 'aalameen

    Translation

    Do you approach males among the worlds
    Verse 166
    وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمۡ رَبُّكُم مِّنۡ أَزۡوَ ٰ⁠جِكُمۚ بَلۡ أَنتُمۡ قَوۡمٌ عَادُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa tazaroona maa khalaqa lakum Rabbukum min azwaajikum; bal antum qawmun 'aadoon

    Translation

    And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing."
    Verse 167
    قَالُوا۟ لَىِٕن لَّمۡ تَنتَهِ یَـٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡرَجِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaloo la'il lam tantahi yaa Lootu latakoonanna minal mukhrajeen

    Translation

    They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted."
    Verse 168
    قَالَ إِنِّی لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡقَالِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala innee li'amalikum minal qaaleen

    Translation

    He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of people who detest [it].
    Verse 169
    رَبِّ نَجِّنِی وَأَهۡلِی مِمَّا یَعۡمَلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Rabbi najjjinee wa ahlee mimmmaa ya'maloon

    Translation

    My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do."
    Verse 170
    فَنَجَّیۡنَـٰهُ وَأَهۡلَهُۥۤ أَجۡمَعِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Fanajjainaahu wa ahlahooo ajma'een

    Translation

    So We saved him and his family, all,
    Verse 171
    إِلَّا عَجُوزࣰا فِی ٱلۡغَـٰبِرِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Illaa 'ajoozan filghaabireen

    Translation

    Except an old woman among people who remained behind.
    Verse 172
    ثُمَّ دَمَّرۡنَا ٱلۡـَٔاخَرِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Summa dammarnal aa khareen

    Translation

    Then We destroyed the others.
    Verse 173
    وَأَمۡطَرۡنَا عَلَیۡهِم مَّطَرࣰاۖ فَسَاۤءَ مَطَرُ ٱلۡمُنذَرِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa amtarnaa 'alaihim mataran fasaaa'a matarul munzareen

    Translation

    And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of people who were warned.
    Verse 174
    إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ لَـَٔایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Inna fee zaalika la Aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

    Translation

    Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
    Verse 175
    وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ

    Pronunciation

    Wa inna Rabbaka la Huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

    Translation

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
    Verse 176
    كَذَّبَ أَصۡحَـٰبُ لۡـَٔیۡكَةِ ٱلۡمُرۡسَلِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Kazzaba As haabul Aykatil mursaleen

    Translation

    The companions of the thicket denied the messengers
    Verse 177
    إِذۡ قَالَ لَهُمۡ شُعَیۡبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Iz qaala lahum Shu'aybun alaa tattaqoon

    Translation

    When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
    Verse 178
    إِنِّی لَكُمۡ رَسُولٌ أَمِینࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Innee lakum Rasoolun ameen

    Translation

    Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
    Verse 179
    فَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ وَأَطِیعُونِ

    Pronunciation

    Fattaqul laaha wa atee'oon

    Translation

    So fear Allah and obey me.
    Verse 180
    وَمَاۤ أَسۡـَٔلُكُمۡ عَلَیۡهِ مِنۡ أَجۡرٍۖ إِنۡ أَجۡرِیَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maaa as'alukum 'alaihi min ajrin in ajriya illaa 'alaa Rabbil 'aalameen

    Translation

    And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
    Verse 181
    ۞ أَوۡفُوا۟ ٱلۡكَیۡلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلۡمُخۡسِرِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Awful kaila wa laa takoonoo minal mukhsireen

    Translation

    Give full measure and do not be of people who cause loss.
    Verse 182
    وَزِنُوا۟ بِٱلۡقِسۡطَاسِ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقِیمِ

    Pronunciation

    Wa zinoo bilqistaasil mustaqeem

    Translation

    And weigh with an even balance.
    Verse 183
    وَلَا تَبۡخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشۡیَاۤءَهُمۡ وَلَا تَعۡثَوۡا۟ فِی ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مُفۡسِدِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa laa tabkhasun naasa ashyaaa 'ahum wa laa ta'saw fil ardi mufsideen

    Translation

    And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption.
    Verse 184
    وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِی خَلَقَكُمۡ وَٱلۡجِبِلَّةَ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wattaqul lazee khalaqakum waljibillatal awwaleen

    Translation

    And fear He who created you and the former creation."
    Verse 185
    قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّمَاۤ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُسَحَّرِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaalooo innamaa anta minal musahhareen

    Translation

    They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.
    Verse 186
    وَمَاۤ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرࣱ مِّثۡلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلۡكَـٰذِبِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maaa anta illaa basharum mislunaa wa innazunnuka laminal kaazibeen

    Translation

    You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars.
    Verse 187
    فَأَسۡقِطۡ عَلَیۡنَا كِسَفࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Fa asqit 'alainaa kisafam minas samaaa'i in kunta minas saadiqeen

    Translation

    So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful."
    Verse 188
    قَالَ رَبِّیۤ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا تَعۡمَلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaala Rabbeee a'lamu bimaa ta'maloon

    Translation

    He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do."
    Verse 189
    فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمۡ عَذَابُ یَوۡمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ یَوۡمٍ عَظِیمٍ

    Pronunciation

    Fakazzaboohu fa akhazahum 'azaabu Yawmiz zullah; innahoo kaana 'azaaba Yawmin 'Azeem

    Translation

    And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day.
    Verse 190
    إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ لَـَٔایَةࣰۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكۡثَرُهُم مُّؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Inna fee zaalika la Aayah; wa maa kaana aksaruhum mu'mineen

    Translation

    Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
    Verse 191
    وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلۡعَزِیزُ ٱلرَّحِیمُ

    Pronunciation

    Wa inna Rabbaka la huwal 'Azeezur Raheem

    Translation

    And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
    Verse 192
    وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِیلُ رَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa innahoo latanzeelu Rabbil 'aalameen

    Translation

    And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds.
    Verse 193
    نَزَلَ بِهِ ٱلرُّوحُ ٱلۡأَمِینُ

    Pronunciation

    Nazala bihir Roohul Ameen

    Translation

    The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down
    Verse 194
    عَلَىٰ قَلۡبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُنذِرِینَ

    Pronunciation

    'Alaa qalbika litakoona minal munzireen

    Translation

    Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners -
    Verse 195
    بِلِسَانٍ عَرَبِیࣲّ مُّبِینࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Bilisaanin 'Arabiyyim mubeen

    Translation

    In a clear Arabic language.
    Verse 196
    وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِی زُبُرِ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa innahoo lafee Zuburil awwaleen

    Translation

    And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples.
    Verse 197
    أَوَلَمۡ یَكُن لَّهُمۡ ءَایَةً أَن یَعۡلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَـٰۤؤُا۟ بَنِیۤ إِسۡرَ ٰ⁠ۤءِیلَ

    Pronunciation

    Awalam yakul lahum Aayatan ai ya'lamahoo 'ulamaaa'u Baneee Israaa'eel

    Translation

    And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?
    Verse 198
    وَلَوۡ نَزَّلۡنَـٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضِ ٱلۡأَعۡجَمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa law nazzalnaahu 'alaa ba'dil a'jameen

    Translation

    And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners
    Verse 199
    فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَیۡهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Faqara ahoo 'alaihim maa kaanoo bihee mu'mineen

    Translation

    And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it.
    Verse 200
    كَذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ سَلَكۡنَـٰهُ فِی قُلُوبِ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Kazaalika salaknaahu fee quloobil mujrimeen

    Translation

    Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals.
    Verse 201
    لَا یُؤۡمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ یَرَوُا۟ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَلِیمَ

    Pronunciation

    Laa yu'minoona bihee hattaa yarawul 'azaabal aleem

    Translation

    They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment.
    Verse 202
    فَیَأۡتِیَهُم بَغۡتَةࣰ وَهُمۡ لَا یَشۡعُرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Fayaatiyahum baghtatanw wa hum laa yash'uroon

    Translation

    And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not.
    Verse 203
    فَیَقُولُوا۟ هَلۡ نَحۡنُ مُنظَرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Fa yaqooloo hal nahnu munzaroon

    Translation

    And they will say, "May we be reprieved?"
    Verse 204
    أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا یَسۡتَعۡجِلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Aafabi 'azaabinaa yasta'jiloon

    Translation

    So for Our punishment are they impatient?
    Verse 205
    أَفَرَءَیۡتَ إِن مَّتَّعۡنَـٰهُمۡ سِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Aara'aita im matta'naahum sineen

    Translation

    Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years
    Verse 206
    ثُمَّ جَاۤءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یُوعَدُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Summa jaaa'ahum maa kaanoo yoo'adoon

    Translation

    And then there came to them that which they were promised?
    Verse 207
    مَاۤ أَغۡنَىٰ عَنۡهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یُمَتَّعُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Maaa aghnaaa 'anhum maa kaanoo yumaatoo'oon

    Translation

    They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided.
    Verse 208
    وَمَاۤ أَهۡلَكۡنَا مِن قَرۡیَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maaa ahlaknaa min qaryatin illaa lahaa munziroon

    Translation

    And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners
    Verse 209
    ذِكۡرَىٰ وَمَا كُنَّا ظَـٰلِمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Zikraa wa maa kunnaa zaalimeen

    Translation

    As a reminder; and never have We been unjust.
    Verse 210
    وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتۡ بِهِ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینُ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maa tanazzalat bihish Shayaateen

    Translation

    And the devils have not brought the revelation down.
    Verse 211
    وَمَا یَنۢبَغِی لَهُمۡ وَمَا یَسۡتَطِیعُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maa yambaghee lahum wa maa yastatee'oon

    Translation

    It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able.
    Verse 212
    إِنَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّمۡعِ لَمَعۡزُولُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Innahum 'anis sam'i lama'zooloon

    Translation

    Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed.
    Verse 213
    فَلَا تَدۡعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَـٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُعَذَّبِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Falaa tad'u ma'al laahi ilaahan aakhara fatakoona minal mu'azzabeen

    Translation

    So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished.
    Verse 214
    وَأَنذِرۡ عَشِیرَتَكَ ٱلۡأَقۡرَبِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa anzir 'asheeratakal aqrabeen

    Translation

    And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred.
    Verse 215
    وَٱخۡفِضۡ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلۡمُؤۡمِنِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wakhfid janaahaka limanit taba 'aka minal mu'mineen

    Translation

    And lower your wing to people who follow you of the believers.
    Verse 216
    فَإِنۡ عَصَوۡكَ فَقُلۡ إِنِّی بَرِیۤءࣱ مِّمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Fa in asawka faqul innee bareee'um mimmmaa ta'maloon

    Translation

    And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing."
    Verse 217
    وَتَوَكَّلۡ عَلَى ٱلۡعَزِیزِ ٱلرَّحِیمِ

    Pronunciation

    Wa tawakkal alal 'Azeezir Raheem

    Translation

    And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,
    Verse 218
    ٱلَّذِی یَرَىٰكَ حِینَ تَقُومُ

    Pronunciation

    Allazee yaraaka heena taqoom

    Translation

    Who sees you when you arise
    Verse 219
    وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِی ٱلسَّـٰجِدِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa taqallubaka fis saajideen

    Translation

    And your movement among people who prostrate.
    Verse 220
    إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلسَّمِیعُ ٱلۡعَلِیمُ

    Pronunciation

    Innahoo Huwas Samee'ul 'Aleem

    Translation

    Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
    Verse 221
    هَلۡ أُنَبِّئُكُمۡ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّیَـٰطِینُ

    Pronunciation

    Hal unabbi'ukum 'alaa man tanazzalush Shayaateen

    Translation

    Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend?
    Verse 222
    تَنَزَّلُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِیمࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Tanazzalu 'alaa kulli affaakin aseem

    Translation

    They descend upon every sinful liar.
    Verse 223
    یُلۡقُونَ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَأَكۡثَرُهُمۡ كَـٰذِبُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Yulqoonas sam'a wa aksaruhum aaziboon

    Translation

    They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars.
    Verse 224
    وَٱلشُّعَرَاۤءُ یَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلۡغَاوُۥنَ

    Pronunciation

    Washshu 'araaa'u yattabi 'uhumul ghaawoon

    Translation

    And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them;
    Verse 225
    أَلَمۡ تَرَ أَنَّهُمۡ فِی كُلِّ وَادࣲ یَهِیمُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Alam tara annahum fee kulli waadiny yaheemoon

    Translation

    Do you not see that in every valley they roam
    Verse 226
    وَأَنَّهُمۡ یَقُولُونَ مَا لَا یَفۡعَلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa annahum yaqooloona ma laa yaf'aloon

    Translation

    And that they say what they do not do? -
    Verse 227
    إِلَّا ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِیرࣰا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعۡدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ۗ وَسَیَعۡلَمُ ٱلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوۤا۟ أَیَّ مُنقَلَبࣲ یَنقَلِبُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Illal lazeena aamanoo w a'amilus saalihaati wa zakarul laaha kaseeranw wantasaroo mim ba'di maa zulimoo; wa saya'lamul lazeena zalamooo aiya munqalbiny yanqaliboon

    Translation

    Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And people who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.
