    Verse 1
    وَٱلطُّورِ

    Pronunciation

    Wat-Toor

    Translation

    By the mount
    Verse 2
    وَكِتَـٰبࣲ مَّسۡطُورࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Wa kitaabim mastoor

    Translation

    And [by] a Book inscribed
    Verse 3
    فِی رَقࣲّ مَّنشُورࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Fee raqqim manshoor

    Translation

    In parchment spread open
    Verse 4
    وَٱلۡبَیۡتِ ٱلۡمَعۡمُورِ

    Pronunciation

    Wal baitil ma'moor

    Translation

    And [by] the frequented House
    Verse 5
    وَٱلسَّقۡفِ ٱلۡمَرۡفُوعِ

    Pronunciation

    Wassaqfil marfoo'

    Translation

    And [by] the heaven raised high
    Verse 6
    وَٱلۡبَحۡرِ ٱلۡمَسۡجُورِ

    Pronunciation

    Wal bahril masjoor

    Translation

    And [by] the sea filled [with fire],
    Verse 7
    إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ لَوَ ٰ⁠قِعࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Inna 'azaaba Rabbika lawaaqi'

    Translation

    Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur.
    Verse 8
    مَّا لَهُۥ مِن دَافِعࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Maa lahoo min daafi'

    Translation

    Of it there is no preventer.
    Verse 9
    یَوۡمَ تَمُورُ ٱلسَّمَاۤءُ مَوۡرࣰا

    Pronunciation

    Yawma tamoorus samaaa'u mawraa

    Translation

    On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion
    Verse 10
    وَتَسِیرُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ سَیۡرࣰا

    Pronunciation

    Wa taseerul jibaalu sairaa

    Translation

    And the mountains will pass on, departing -
    Verse 11
    فَوَیۡلࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Fawailuny yawma 'izil lil mukaazzibeen

    Translation

    Then woe, that Day, to the deniers,
    Verse 12
    ٱلَّذِینَ هُمۡ فِی خَوۡضࣲ یَلۡعَبُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Allazeena hum fee khawdiny yal'aboon

    Translation

    Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves.
    Verse 13
    یَوۡمَ یُدَعُّونَ إِلَىٰ نَارِ جَهَنَّمَ دَعًّا

    Pronunciation

    Yawma yuda'-'oona ilaa naari jahannama da'-'aa

    Translation

    The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say],
    Verse 14
    هَـٰذِهِ ٱلنَّارُ ٱلَّتِی كُنتُم بِهَا تُكَذِّبُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Haazihin naarul latee kuntum bihaa tukazziboon

    Translation

    "This is the Fire which you used to deny.
    Verse 15
    أَفَسِحۡرٌ هَـٰذَاۤ أَمۡ أَنتُمۡ لَا تُبۡصِرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Afasihrun haazaaaa am antum laa tubsiroon

    Translation

    Then is this magic, or do you not see?
    Verse 16
    ٱصۡلَوۡهَا فَٱصۡبِرُوۤا۟ أَوۡ لَا تَصۡبِرُوا۟ سَوَاۤءٌ عَلَیۡكُمۡۖ إِنَّمَا تُجۡزَوۡنَ مَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Islawhaa fasbirooo aw laa tasbiroo sawaaa'un 'alaikum innamaa tujzawna maa kuntum ta'maloon

    Translation

    [Enter to] burn in it; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do."
    Verse 17
    إِنَّ ٱلۡمُتَّقِینَ فِی جَنَّـٰتࣲ وَنَعِیمࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Innal muttaqeena fee jannaatinw wa na'eem

    Translation

    Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure,
    Verse 18
    فَـٰكِهِینَ بِمَاۤ ءَاتَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ وَوَقَىٰهُمۡ رَبُّهُمۡ عَذَابَ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ

    Pronunciation

    Faakiheena bimaaa aataahum rabbuhum wa waqaahum rabbuhum 'azaabal jaheem

    Translation

    Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire.
    Verse 19
    كُلُوا۟ وَٱشۡرَبُوا۟ هَنِیۤـَٔۢا بِمَا كُنتُمۡ تَعۡمَلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Kuloo washraboo haneee 'am bimaa kuntum ta'maloon

    Translation

    [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do."
    Verse 20
    مُتَّكِـِٔینَ عَلَىٰ سُرُرࣲ مَّصۡفُوفَةࣲۖ وَزَوَّجۡنَـٰهُم بِحُورٍ عِینࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Muttaki'eena 'alaa sururim masfoofatinw wa zawwaj naahum bihoorin 'een

    Translation

    They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.
    Verse 21
    وَٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَٱتَّبَعَتۡهُمۡ ذُرِّیَّتُهُم بِإِیمَـٰنٍ أَلۡحَقۡنَا بِهِمۡ ذُرِّیَّتَهُمۡ وَمَاۤ أَلَتۡنَـٰهُم مِّنۡ عَمَلِهِم مِّن شَیۡءࣲۚ كُلُّ ٱمۡرِىِٕۭ بِمَا كَسَبَ رَهِینࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Wallazeena aamanoo wattaba'at hum zurriyyatuhum bieemaanin alhaqnaa bihim zurriyyatahum wa maaa alatnaahum min 'amalihim min shai'; kullum ri'im bimaa kasaba raheen

    Translation

    And people who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained.
    Verse 22
    وَأَمۡدَدۡنَـٰهُم بِفَـٰكِهَةࣲ وَلَحۡمࣲ مِّمَّا یَشۡتَهُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa amdadnaahum bifaa kihatinw wa lahmim mimmaa yashtahoon

    Translation

    And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire.
    Verse 23
    یَتَنَـٰزَعُونَ فِیهَا كَأۡسࣰا لَّا لَغۡوࣱ فِیهَا وَلَا تَأۡثِیمࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Yatanaaza'oona feehaa kaasal laa laghwun feehaa wa laa taaseem

    Translation

    They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] in which [results] no ill speech or commission of sin.
    Verse 24
    ۞ وَیَطُوفُ عَلَیۡهِمۡ غِلۡمَانࣱ لَّهُمۡ كَأَنَّهُمۡ لُؤۡلُؤࣱ مَّكۡنُونࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Wa yatoofu 'alaihim ghilmaanul lahum ka annahum lu'lu'um maknoon

    Translation

    There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected.
    Verse 25
    وَأَقۡبَلَ بَعۡضُهُمۡ عَلَىٰ بَعۡضࣲ یَتَسَاۤءَلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa aqbala ba'duhum 'alaa ba'diny yatasaaa'aloon

    Translation

    And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.
    Verse 26
    قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّا كُنَّا قَبۡلُ فِیۤ أَهۡلِنَا مُشۡفِقِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qaalooo innaa kunnaa qablu feee ahlinaa mushfiqeen

    Translation

    They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah].
    Verse 27
    فَمَنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَیۡنَا وَوَقَىٰنَا عَذَابَ ٱلسَّمُومِ

    Pronunciation

    Famannnal laahu 'alainaa wa waqaanaa 'azaabas samoom

    Translation

    So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire.
    Verse 28
    إِنَّا كُنَّا مِن قَبۡلُ نَدۡعُوهُۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلۡبَرُّ ٱلرَّحِیمُ

    Pronunciation

    Innaa kunnaa min qablu nad'oohu innahoo huwal barrur raheem

    Translation

    Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful."
    Verse 29
    فَذَكِّرۡ فَمَاۤ أَنتَ بِنِعۡمَتِ رَبِّكَ بِكَاهِنࣲ وَلَا مَجۡنُونٍ

    Pronunciation

    Fazakkir famaaa anta bini'mati rabbika bikaahininw wa laa majnoon

    Translation

    So remind [O Muhammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman.
    Verse 30
    أَمۡ یَقُولُونَ شَاعِرࣱ نَّتَرَبَّصُ بِهِۦ رَیۡبَ ٱلۡمَنُونِ

    Pronunciation

    Am yaqooloona shaa'irun natarabbasu bihee raibal manoon

    Translation

    Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time?"
    Verse 31
    قُلۡ تَرَبَّصُوا۟ فَإِنِّی مَعَكُم مِّنَ ٱلۡمُتَرَبِّصِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Qul tarabbasoo fa innee ma'akum minal mutarabbiseen

    Translation

    Say, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters."
    Verse 32
    أَمۡ تَأۡمُرُهُمۡ أَحۡلَـٰمُهُم بِهَـٰذَاۤۚ أَمۡ هُمۡ قَوۡمࣱ طَاغُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Am taamuruhum ahlaamuhum bihaazaaa am hum qawmun taaghoon

    Translation

    Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people?
    Verse 33
    أَمۡ یَقُولُونَ تَقَوَّلَهُۥۚ بَل لَّا یُؤۡمِنُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Am yaqooloona taqawwalah; bal laa yu'minoon

    Translation

    Or do they say, "He has made it up"? Rather, they do not believe.
    Verse 34
    فَلۡیَأۡتُوا۟ بِحَدِیثࣲ مِّثۡلِهِۦۤ إِن كَانُوا۟ صَـٰدِقِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Falyaatoo bihadeesim misliheee in kaanoo saadiqeen

    Translation

    Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful.
    Verse 35
    أَمۡ خُلِقُوا۟ مِنۡ غَیۡرِ شَیۡءٍ أَمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡخَـٰلِقُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Am khuliqoo min ghairi shai'in am humul khaaliqoon

    Translation

    Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]?
    Verse 36
    أَمۡ خَلَقُوا۟ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَ ٰ⁠تِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضَۚ بَل لَّا یُوقِنُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Am khalaqus samaawaati wal ard; bal laa yooqinoon

    Translation

    Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain.
    Verse 37
    أَمۡ عِندَهُمۡ خَزَاۤىِٕنُ رَبِّكَ أَمۡ هُمُ ٱلۡمُصَۣیۡطِرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Am'indahum khazaaa'inu rabbika am humul musaitiroon

    Translation

    Or have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]?
    Verse 38
    أَمۡ لَهُمۡ سُلَّمࣱ یَسۡتَمِعُونَ فِیهِۖ فَلۡیَأۡتِ مُسۡتَمِعُهُم بِسُلۡطَـٰنࣲ مُّبِینٍ

    Pronunciation

    Am lahum sullamuny yastami'oona feehi falyaati mustami'uhum bisultaanim mubeen

    Translation

    Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority.
    Verse 39
    أَمۡ لَهُ ٱلۡبَنَـٰتُ وَلَكُمُ ٱلۡبَنُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Am lahul banaatu wa lakumul banoon

    Translation

    Or has He daughters while you have sons?
    Verse 40
    أَمۡ تَسۡـَٔلُهُمۡ أَجۡرࣰا فَهُم مِّن مَّغۡرَمࣲ مُّثۡقَلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Am tas'aluhum ajran fahum mim maghramim musqaloon

    Translation

    Or do you, [O Muhammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down?
    Verse 41
    أَمۡ عِندَهُمُ ٱلۡغَیۡبُ فَهُمۡ یَكۡتُبُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Am 'indahumul ghaibu fahum yaktuboon

    Translation

    Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down?
    Verse 42
    أَمۡ یُرِیدُونَ كَیۡدࣰاۖ فَٱلَّذِینَ كَفَرُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلۡمَكِیدُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Am yureedoona kaidan fallazeena kafaroo humul makeedoon

    Translation

    Or do they intend a plan? But people who disbelieve - they are the object of a plan.
    Verse 43
    أَمۡ لَهُمۡ إِلَـٰهٌ غَیۡرُ ٱللَّهِۚ سُبۡحَـٰنَ ٱللَّهِ عَمَّا یُشۡرِكُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Am lahum ilaahun ghairul laa; subhaanal laahi 'ammaa yushrikoon

    Translation

    Or have they a deity other than Allah? Exalted is Allah above whatever they associate with Him.
    Verse 44
    وَإِن یَرَوۡا۟ كِسۡفࣰا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَاۤءِ سَاقِطࣰا یَقُولُوا۟ سَحَابࣱ مَّرۡكُومࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Wa iny yaraw kisfam minas samaaa'i saaqitany yaqooloo sahaabum markoom

    Translation

    And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up."
    Verse 45
    فَذَرۡهُمۡ حَتَّىٰ یُلَـٰقُوا۟ یَوۡمَهُمُ ٱلَّذِی فِیهِ یُصۡعَقُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Fazarhum hatta yulaaqoo yawmahumul lazee feehi yus'aqoon

    Translation

    So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible -
    Verse 46
    یَوۡمَ لَا یُغۡنِی عَنۡهُمۡ كَیۡدُهُمۡ شَیۡـࣰٔا وَلَا هُمۡ یُنصَرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Yawma laa yughnee 'anhum kaidumhum shai'anw wa laa hum yunsaroon

    Translation

    The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped.
    Verse 47
    وَإِنَّ لِلَّذِینَ ظَلَمُوا۟ عَذَابࣰا دُونَ ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ وَلَـٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَهُمۡ لَا یَعۡلَمُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa inna lillazeena zalamoo 'azaaban doona zalika wa laakinna aksarahum laa ya'lamoon

    Translation

    And indeed, for people who have wronged is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know.
    Verse 48
    وَٱصۡبِرۡ لِحُكۡمِ رَبِّكَ فَإِنَّكَ بِأَعۡیُنِنَاۖ وَسَبِّحۡ بِحَمۡدِ رَبِّكَ حِینَ تَقُومُ

    Pronunciation

    Wasbir lihukmi rabbika fa innaka bi-a'yuninaa wa sabbih bihamdi rabbika heena taqoom

    Translation

    And be patient, [O Muhammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes. And exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord when you arise.
    Verse 49
    وَمِنَ ٱلَّیۡلِ فَسَبِّحۡهُ وَإِدۡبَـٰرَ ٱلنُّجُومِ

    Pronunciation

    Wa minal laili fasabbihhu wa idbaaran nujoom

    Translation

    And in a part of the night exalt Him and after [the setting of] the stars.
