    سُورَةُ النَّازِعَاتِ

    About An-Naazi'aat

    Those who drag forthMeccan46 verses

    Verse 1
    وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ غَرۡقࣰا

    Pronunciation

    Wan naazi 'aati gharqa

    Translation

    By those [angels] who extract with violence
    Verse 2
    وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ نَشۡطࣰا

    Pronunciation

    Wan naa shi taati nashta

    Translation

    And [by] people who remove with ease
    Verse 3
    وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ سَبۡحࣰا

    Pronunciation

    Wass saabi-haati sabha

    Translation

    And [by] people who glide [as if] swimming
    Verse 4
    فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ سَبۡقࣰا

    Pronunciation

    Fass saabi qaati sabqa

    Translation

    And people who race each other in a race
    Verse 5
    فَٱلۡمُدَبِّرَ ٰ⁠تِ أَمۡرࣰا

    Pronunciation

    Fal mu dab-bi raati amra

    Translation

    And people who arrange [each] matter,
    Verse 6
    یَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ

    Pronunciation

    Yawma tarjufur raajifa

    Translation

    On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation],
    Verse 7
    تَتۡبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ

    Pronunciation

    Tatba'u har raadifa

    Translation

    There will follow it the subsequent [one].
    Verse 8
    قُلُوبࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ وَاجِفَةٌ

    Pronunciation

    Quloobuny-yau maaiziw-waaji-fa

    Translation

    Hearts, that Day, will tremble,
    Verse 9
    أَبۡصَـٰرُهَا خَـٰشِعَةࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Absaa ruhaa khashi'ah

    Translation

    Their eyes humbled.
    Verse 10
    یَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرۡدُودُونَ فِی ٱلۡحَافِرَةِ

    Pronunciation

    Ya qoo loona a-inna lamar doo doona fil haafirah

    Translation

    They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]?
    Verse 11
    أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَـٰمࣰا نَّخِرَةࣰ

    Pronunciation

    Aizaa kunna 'izaa man-nakhirah

    Translation

    Even if we should be decayed bones?
    Verse 12
    قَالُوا۟ تِلۡكَ إِذࣰا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Qaalu tilka izan karratun khaasirah.

    Translation

    They say, "That, then, would be a losing return."
    Verse 13
    فَإِنَّمَا هِیَ زَجۡرَةࣱ وَ ٰ⁠حِدَةࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Fa inna ma hiya zajratuw-waahida

    Translation

    Indeed, it will be but one shout,
    Verse 14
    فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ

    Pronunciation

    Faizaa hum biss saahirah

    Translation

    And suddenly they will be [alert] upon the earth's surface.
    Verse 15
    هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِیثُ مُوسَىٰۤ

    Pronunciation

    Hal ataaka hadeethu Musaa

    Translation

    Has there reached you the story of Moses? -
    Verse 16
    إِذۡ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلۡوَادِ ٱلۡمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى

    Pronunciation

    Iz nadaahu rabbuhu bil waadil-muqad dasi tuwa

    Translation

    When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa,
    Verse 17
    ٱذۡهَبۡ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Izhab ilaa fir'auna innahu taghaa.

    Translation

    "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed.
    Verse 18
    فَقُلۡ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰۤ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Faqul hal laka ilaa-an tazakka.

    Translation

    And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself
    Verse 19
    وَأَهۡدِیَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخۡشَىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Wa ahdi yaka ila rabbika fatakh sha

    Translation

    And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'"
    Verse 20
    فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلۡـَٔایَةَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Fa araahul-aayatal kubra.

    Translation

    And he showed him the greatest sign,
    Verse 21
    فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Fa kazzaba wa asaa.

    Translation

    But Pharaoh denied and disobeyed.
    Verse 22
    ثُمَّ أَدۡبَرَ یَسۡعَىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Thumma adbara yas'aa.

    Translation

    Then he turned his back, striving.
    Verse 23
    فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Fa hashara fanada.

    Translation

    And he gathered [his people] and called out
    Verse 24
    فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Faqala ana rabbu kumul-a'laa.

    Translation

    And said, "I am your most exalted lord."
    Verse 25
    فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلۡـَٔاخِرَةِ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰۤ

    Pronunciation

    Fa-akha zahul laahu nakalal aakhirati wal-oola.

    Translation

    So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression].
    Verse 26
    إِنَّ فِی ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ لَعِبۡرَةࣰ لِّمَن یَخۡشَىٰۤ

    Pronunciation

    Inna fee zaalika la'ibratal limaiy-yaksha

    Translation

    Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah].
    Verse 27
    ءَأَنتُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَاۤءُۚ بَنَىٰهَا

    Pronunciation

    A-antum a shaddu khalqan amis samaa-u banaaha.

    Translation

    Are you a more difficult creation or is the heaven? Allah constructed it.
    Verse 28
    رَفَعَ سَمۡكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا

    Pronunciation

    Raf'a sam kaha fasaw waaha

    Translation

    He raised its ceiling and proportioned it.
    Verse 29
    وَأَغۡطَشَ لَیۡلَهَا وَأَخۡرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا

    Pronunciation

    Wa aghtasha lailaha wa akhraja duhaaha.

    Translation

    And He darkened its night and extracted its brightness.
    Verse 30
    وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ دَحَىٰهَاۤ

    Pronunciation

    Wal arda b'ada zaalika dahaaha.

    Translation

    And after that He spread the earth.
    Verse 31
    أَخۡرَجَ مِنۡهَا مَاۤءَهَا وَمَرۡعَىٰهَا

    Pronunciation

    Akhraja minha maa-aha wa mar 'aaha.

    Translation

    He extracted from it its water and its pasture,
    Verse 32
    وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَرۡسَىٰهَا

    Pronunciation

    Wal jibala arsaaha.

    Translation

    And the mountains He set firmly
    Verse 33
    مَتَـٰعࣰا لَّكُمۡ وَلِأَنۡعَـٰمِكُمۡ

    Pronunciation

    Mataa'al lakum wali an 'aamikum.

    Translation

    As provision for you and your grazing livestock.
    Verse 34
    فَإِذَا جَاۤءَتِ ٱلطَّاۤمَّةُ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Fa-izaa jaaa'atit taaam matul kubraa.

    Translation

    But when there comes the greatest Overwhelming Calamity -
    Verse 35
    یَوۡمَ یَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Yauma Yata zakkarul insaanu ma sa'aa.

    Translation

    The Day when man will remember that for which he strove,
    Verse 36
    وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلۡجَحِیمُ لِمَن یَرَىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Wa burrizatil-jaheemu limany-yaraa.

    Translation

    And Hellfire will be exposed for [all] people who see -
    Verse 37
    فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Fa ammaa man taghaa.

    Translation

    So as for he who transgressed
    Verse 38
    وَءَاثَرَ ٱلۡحَیَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡیَا

    Pronunciation

    Wa aasaral hayaatad dunyaa

    Translation

    And preferred the life of the world,
    Verse 39
    فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَحِیمَ هِیَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Fa innal jaheema hiyal maawaa.

    Translation

    Then indeed, Hellfire will be [his] refuge.
    Verse 40
    وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفۡسَ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Wa ammaa man khaafa maqaama Rabbihee wa nahan nafsa 'anil hawaa

    Translation

    But as for he who feared the position of his Lord and prevented the soul from [unlawful] inclination,
    Verse 41
    فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ هِیَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ

    Pronunciation

    Fa innal jannata hiyal maawaa

    Translation

    Then indeed, Paradise will be [his] refuge.
    Verse 42
    یَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَیَّانَ مُرۡسَىٰهَا

    Pronunciation

    Yas'aloonaka 'anis saa'ati ayyaana mursaahaa

    Translation

    They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival?
    Verse 43
    فِیمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكۡرَىٰهَاۤ

    Pronunciation

    Feema anta min zikraahaa

    Translation

    In what [position] are you that you should mention it?
    Verse 44
    إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَاۤ

    Pronunciation

    Ilaa Rabbika muntahaa haa

    Translation

    To your Lord is its finality.
    Verse 45
    إِنَّمَاۤ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن یَخۡشَىٰهَا

    Pronunciation

    Innamaaa anta munziru maiy yakshaahaa

    Translation

    You are only a warner for people who fear it.
    Verse 46
    كَأَنَّهُمۡ یَوۡمَ یَرَوۡنَهَا لَمۡ یَلۡبَثُوۤا۟ إِلَّا عَشِیَّةً أَوۡ ضُحَىٰهَا

    Pronunciation

    Ka annahum Yawma yarawnahaa lam yalbasooo illaa 'ashiyyatan aw duhaahaa

    Translation

    It will be, on the Day they see it, as though they had not remained [in the world] except for an afternoon or a morning of it.
