    سُورَةُ المُطَفِّفِينَ

    Verse 1
    وَیۡلࣱ لِّلۡمُطَفِّفِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wailul lil mutaffifeen

    Translation

    Woe to people who give less [than due],
    Verse 2
    ٱلَّذِینَ إِذَا ٱكۡتَالُوا۟ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ یَسۡتَوۡفُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Allazeena izak taaloo 'alan naasi yastawfoon

    Translation

    Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full.
    Verse 3
    وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمۡ أَو وَّزَنُوهُمۡ یُخۡسِرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa izaa kaaloohum aw wazanoohum yukhsiroon

    Translation

    But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss.
    Verse 4
    أَلَا یَظُنُّ أُو۟لَـٰۤىِٕكَ أَنَّهُم مَّبۡعُوثُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Alaa yazunnu ulaaa'ika annahum mab'oosoon

    Translation

    Do they not think that they will be resurrected
    Verse 5
    لِیَوۡمٍ عَظِیمࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Li Yawmin 'Azeem

    Translation

    For a tremendous Day -
    Verse 6
    یَوۡمَ یَقُومُ ٱلنَّاسُ لِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَـٰلَمِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Yawma yaqoomun naasu li Rabbil 'aalameen

    Translation

    The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?
    Verse 7
    كَلَّاۤ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلۡفُجَّارِ لَفِی سِجِّینࣲ

    Pronunciation

    Kallaaa inna kitaabal fujjaari lafee Sijjeen

    Translation

    No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen.
    Verse 8
    وَمَاۤ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا سِجِّینࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maa adraaka maa Sijjeen

    Translation

    And what can make you know what is sijjeen?
    Verse 9
    كِتَـٰبࣱ مَّرۡقُومࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Kitaabum marqoom

    Translation

    It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed.
    Verse 10
    وَیۡلࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لِّلۡمُكَذِّبِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wailuny yawma'izil lil mukazzibeen

    Translation

    Woe, that Day, to the deniers,
    Verse 11
    ٱلَّذِینَ یُكَذِّبُونَ بِیَوۡمِ ٱلدِّینِ

    Pronunciation

    Allazeena yukazziboona bi yawmid deen

    Translation

    Who deny the Day of Recompense.
    Verse 12
    وَمَا یُكَذِّبُ بِهِۦۤ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعۡتَدٍ أَثِیمٍ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maa yukazzibu biheee illaa kullu mu'tadin aseem

    Translation

    And none deny it except every sinful transgressor.
    Verse 13
    إِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَیۡهِ ءَایَـٰتُنَا قَالَ أَسَـٰطِیرُ ٱلۡأَوَّلِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Izaa tutlaa'alaihi aayaatunaa qaala asaateerul awwaleen

    Translation

    When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."
    Verse 14
    كَلَّاۖ بَلۡۜ رَانَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ یَكۡسِبُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Kallaa bal raana 'alaa quloobihim maa kaanoo yaksiboon

    Translation

    No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.
    Verse 15
    كَلَّاۤ إِنَّهُمۡ عَن رَّبِّهِمۡ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لَّمَحۡجُوبُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Kallaaa innahum 'ar Rabbihim yawma'izil lamah jooboon

    Translation

    No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned.
    Verse 16
    ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمۡ لَصَالُوا۟ ٱلۡجَحِیمِ

    Pronunciation

    Summa innahum lasaa lul jaheem

    Translation

    Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire.
    Verse 17
    ثُمَّ یُقَالُ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِی كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Summa yuqaalu haazal lazee kuntum bihee tukazziboon

    Translation

    Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny."
    Verse 18
    كَلَّاۤ إِنَّ كِتَـٰبَ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارِ لَفِی عِلِّیِّینَ

    Pronunciation

    Kallaaa inna kitaabal abraari lafee'Illiyyeen

    Translation

    No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun.
    Verse 19
    وَمَاۤ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا عِلِّیُّونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maaa adraaka maa 'Illiyyoon

    Translation

    And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun?
    Verse 20
    كِتَـٰبࣱ مَّرۡقُومࣱ

    Pronunciation

    Kitaabum marqoom

    Translation

    It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed
    Verse 21
    یَشۡهَدُهُ ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Yashhadu hul muqarra boon

    Translation

    Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah].
    Verse 22
    إِنَّ ٱلۡأَبۡرَارَ لَفِی نَعِیمٍ

    Pronunciation

    Innal abraara lafee Na'eem

    Translation

    Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure
    Verse 23
    عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَاۤىِٕكِ یَنظُرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    'Alal araaa'iki yanzuroon

    Translation

    On adorned couches, observing.
    Verse 24
    تَعۡرِفُ فِی وُجُوهِهِمۡ نَضۡرَةَ ٱلنَّعِیمِ

    Pronunciation

    Ta'rifu fee wujoohihim nadratan na'eem

    Translation

    You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure.
    Verse 25
    یُسۡقَوۡنَ مِن رَّحِیقࣲ مَّخۡتُومٍ

    Pronunciation

    Yusqawna mir raheeqim makhtoom

    Translation

    They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed.
    Verse 26
    خِتَـٰمُهُۥ مِسۡكࣱۚ وَفِی ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ فَلۡیَتَنَافَسِ ٱلۡمُتَنَـٰفِسُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Khitaamuhoo misk; wa fee zaalika falyatanaafasil Mutanaafisoon

    Translation

    The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete.
    Verse 27
    وَمِزَاجُهُۥ مِن تَسۡنِیمٍ

    Pronunciation

    Wa mizaajuhoo min Tasneem

    Translation

    And its mixture is of Tasneem,
    Verse 28
    عَیۡنࣰا یَشۡرَبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُقَرَّبُونَ

    Pronunciation

    'Ainaiy yashrabu bihal muqarraboon

    Translation

    A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink.
    Verse 29
    إِنَّ ٱلَّذِینَ أَجۡرَمُوا۟ كَانُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ یَضۡحَكُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Innal lazeena ajramoo kaanoo minal lazeena aamanoo yadhakoon

    Translation

    Indeed, people who committed crimes used to laugh at people who believed.
    Verse 30
    وَإِذَا مَرُّوا۟ بِهِمۡ یَتَغَامَزُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa izaa marroo bihim yataghaamazoon

    Translation

    And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances.
    Verse 31
    وَإِذَا ٱنقَلَبُوۤا۟ إِلَىٰۤ أَهۡلِهِمُ ٱنقَلَبُوا۟ فَكِهِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa izan qalabooo ilaaa ahlihimun qalaboo fakiheen

    Translation

    And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting.
    Verse 32
    وَإِذَا رَأَوۡهُمۡ قَالُوۤا۟ إِنَّ هَـٰۤؤُلَاۤءِ لَضَاۤلُّونَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa izaa ra awhum qaalooo inna haaa'ulaaa'i ladaaal loon

    Translation

    And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost."
    Verse 33
    وَمَاۤ أُرۡسِلُوا۟ عَلَیۡهِمۡ حَـٰفِظِینَ

    Pronunciation

    Wa maaa ursiloo 'alaihim haafizeen

    Translation

    But they had not been sent as guardians over them.
    Verse 34
    فَٱلۡیَوۡمَ ٱلَّذِینَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلۡكُفَّارِ یَضۡحَكُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Fal yawmal lazeena aamanoo minal kuffaari yadhakoon

    Translation

    So Today people who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,
    Verse 35
    عَلَى ٱلۡأَرَاۤىِٕكِ یَنظُرُونَ

    Pronunciation

    'Alal araaa'iki yanzuroon

    Translation

    On adorned couches, observing.
    Verse 36
    هَلۡ ثُوِّبَ ٱلۡكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا۟ یَفۡعَلُونَ

    Pronunciation

    Hal suwwibal kuffaaru maa kaanoo yaf'aloon

    Translation

    Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do?
